Just a few pics of a new character style I'm exploring at the moment...

I've been feeling a bit dissatisfied with my approach to the characters in my work lately - I've sort of been boxing myself into a corner by being to restrictive with their proportions, and trying to make their faces look 'perfect', etc. Sooo, I've been trying to get out of some of my nasty habits over the past week or so with these ladies! I'd love to hear what you think :)

I love their style, the shadows. A lot of melancholy comes out of their faces and (lack of?) expressions... These are first-class characters ;)

I don't think you have any nasty habits when it comes to your art!
But variety is always good. I have at least 5 different "people styles". It keeps it from getting boring.

These girls are sweet as ever!

they are very sweet Leanne...my favorite is the first with the checked top :)

I do like their necks, and I like how the first one has one eye bigger then the other... makes her look a little prettily odd (if that makes sense)? Which is so endearing, I think most people can relate to looking a little odd.

I know what you mean about boxing yourself in to things. I am the boxing queen!!!

Are you going to put these prints on Etsy? I love these.

Leanne!

You are an amazing talent with amazing skill. I think that these are great and so are your others. Let whatever is inside you come out...THAT will always be your best work. You know, when you become restrictive it is time to let go a bit and see what happens (which you obviously did here).

You truly are amazing, these have a quality about them that is sad and intriguing. Beautiful as usual woman!

Ive only just found your blog so need more time to have a good nose around in it but I really like your new characters. I especially like the 3rd one. There's something about them thats very appealing. I do like the lack of 'perfection' in them and the sketch quality.

I think they are super cute! Specially the first one.

It's a really good thing to accept one's bad habits and try to get better, thought I wouldn't say your previous work "bad habit". Yours is one of my favourite blogs, I visit it all the time!

Hope to see some more new things :)

Hi! I was so thrilled to be able to buy your work in stamp form. The expressions of these beautiful ladies totally drew me in. I would only hope to see more with a hint of a smile and more with the air of wonder (i.e., like the little girl with the fish). Your work in the stamp world is so refreshing! Hope you'll provide more rubber stamp images of your work in the future.

Your artistry is a true gift - thank you for sharing it with us all!
